Lardarius Webb Expressed His Dissaproval of Returning in Preseason

Lardarius Webb, one of the most promising defensive players on the Ravens, tore his ACL last year versus the Chicago Bears. That injury has deprived him of a full rookie season and the opportunity to participate in this year's training camp.

Many are anticipating his return, coaches and trainers alike are noticing his progress in practice even allowing him to workout twice-a-day now (not with the team because he's on PUP) but the question now is: When will Webb return to the gamefield?

When a reporter asked him whether returning for any of the preseason game was an option he said the following,“I’m hoping it’s not. For what? I’m still, like, seven months, and we still have a lot of work to do. We have to make sure it’s right before I come back on.”

This response has myself as well as a few other taken aback. Rarely do you hear a player say he doesn't want to come back soon even if the likelihood is slim to none. I agree rushing his return could reinjure him and cause him to be M.I.A for even longer than hoped but what part of Lardarius spoke in that interview? Was it his body or his mind? Was he feeling the aches in his knee while he was questioned or is he just lacking confidence that the healing knee would be able to hold up?
