Grammy Night.

"A&R lookin' like psshht we messed up. Grammy night **** right we got dressed up. Bottle after bottle till we got messed up."
Kanye West

It is Sunday afternoon and we are getting prepared for the biggest night in music, the Grammys.

This year it looks to be shaping up like every other show of the previous years. Artist with the most popular songs of the past year like the Black Eyed Peas are advertised as performers. Random artist from the past and present will present the awards together.

I am watching to see who wins the big awards like Record of the Year, Album of the Year and other awards of that nature but I also want to see who wins the Hip Hop specific awards. I am not too excited about some of nominees like Common- Universal Mind Control being nominated for Hip Hop Album of the Year. Especially when better albums like Rick Ross- Deeper than Rap and Jadakiss- Kiss of Death were released in the eligible time frame of nomination. Flo Rida's album is also nominated for Rap album of the year. Come on academy, Flo Rida is nominated but Kid Cudi is not? Ridiculous!

I will be switching back and forth between the Grammys and the Pro Bowl tonight because they both come on at 8pm.

Who cares it's just the Pro Bowl?!

On Sunday, we will see some of the best players, that are not on the Super Bowl teams or injured, playing against one another in a relaxed and meaningless football game. This means you will not see Peyton Manning, Drew Brees nor Tom Brady playing in this game because both of them fall in one of the two categories. Instead you will see the next best thing in... David Garrard?

This and many other factors make this game not really worth watching. Also, the players on the winning conference team do not get anything more than a few dollars.

The only reason I really even consider watching the event is to see the first time pro-bowlers and the players from my favorite team on the field. This year it is Ray Rice. He definitely deserves to be there and I am looking forward to seeing him take a couple of snaps from a second tier quarterback like Vince Young. While I am on the topic of QB's. It is rumored that Flacco was invited but rejected the offer because of his injury. If this is true this will explain why a quarterback who had less yards, less touchdown passes, a lower completion rating and a lower QB rating than Flacco like David Garrard would get an invitation.

Feel free to watch the game. Enjoy the camaraderie between great players that are opponents on every other day of the year expect this one. That is probably the best part about it.

Kane Beatz is coming up. Keep an eye out for him.

After listening to Bedrock for the 50th time, I decided to look up who produced the song because I think the instrumental is very creative. It turns out it was not produced by a rich, famous producer like Timbaland not even his slightly less known protege Danja. It was a producer that goes by the name of Kane Beatz. If its your first time hearing that name it's ok because he is relatively new to the scene. Some of the earliest stuff produced by him I can find are tracks on Trick Daddy's Back by Thug Demand cd that was released in 2006.

Bedrock is his most successful track to date but he has also produced for the aforementioned Trick Daddy, Juelz Santana, Young Money, Flo Rida and Gorilla Zoe. He worked with Lil' Wayne and Birdman on a track that was on DJ Khaled's We the Best compilation cd called "S" on my chest. This might explain the connection between the two that led to the ubiquitous Young Money song that everyone seems to like today.

Keep an eye out for him. I have a feeling he will be producing a couple more hit records in the future.

Hue Jackson moves on.

Hue Jackson is now the former quarterback coach of the Baltimore Ravens. He has been the QB coach in Baltimore for the past two years and influential in the progression of Joe Flacco.

He is packing his possessions and moving out west where he will be the offensive coordinator of unstable the Oakland Raiders. He will be responsible for getting the 31st ranked offense of 2009 rejuvenated.

Jackson will be missed but Flacco and the other quarterbacks on the roster must move on. It is rumored that Jim Zorn, former head coach of the Washington Redskins, may be Jackson's replacement. Good luck to you Hue, because you will definitely need it.

AFC Championship game

I will make this quick because I am definitely NOT a fan of either team.

The match ups in this game are actually quite obvious. The Jets run the ball to win, the Colts shutdown the Ravens run game in order to win last week. Will the Jets run the ball up and down the field on Championship Sunday? We'll see. The Colts have a great passing game and the Jets have a pretty good pass defense but the Colts offense definitely has an advantage because of the great one(rolling my eyes), Peyton Manning.

I do think the Colts will win because of how many points they can score on offense. Their running game is not deadly but they succeed in critical situations. Plus having Darrelle Revis shutdown Reggie Wayne will make it harder to pass the ball downfield but Manning has many other weapon, namely Dallas Clark.

This game will be low scoring but the Colts will put up just enough to return to the Superbowl for a second time in 4 years.

TNA changes their ring back to a "squared circle"

TNA pulled out the ole' squared ring for their annual Genesis pay per view. This is a surprising change for me and many others. Many fans joined the TNA fan base after they debut their show "Impact" and their sextagonal ring on cable television. This change will be a strange thing for the fans to get used to if it is a permanent adjustment.

Mos Def/ Talib Kweli- History

I do not believe I did not post this already! Well here it is. Get ready to witness 'History'.

Ok Ravens, lets win this one.

Saturday at 8:15 is showtime. The Ravens are once again on the road. This time they are traveling to Indianapolis to take on the number 1 seeded Colts. I know this is a little cliche but history always seems to repeat itself eventually. The question will be is this that time?

The 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers entered a very similar situation to that of the 2009 Baltimore Ravens. They were this 6th seed and came in riding a good defense, an offense with a second year quarterback and a good running game. They looked across the field and saw the 2005 Colts who had a great quarterback in Peyton Manning who was surrounded with good recieving talent at the tight end and wide reciever positions. The Colts' defense was not revered as a good defense at the time but they got the job done when they had too.

Well enough strolling down memory lane. Today we have a Baltimore Ravens team with a second year quarterback with playoff experience and a good run game. The Ravens' defense has been improving all year long. They faced the Colts earlier this year and played pretty solid defense. In that game the Ravens' offense was the unit that could not score to put their opponent away. They had trouble scoring in the redzone.

On Saturday, I expect the Ravens to run the ball down the field and score in the redzone when they get there. This may sound like I am saying the Ravens will pound the Colts defense but that is not the case. The Colts pass rush will have an effect on how often the Ravens pass and how well they do so. Freeney and Mathis (both Pro Bowlers) may have a decent day versus this Ravens offensive line that has struggled to protect Flacco in the past couple week.

The key to a Ravens win will be momentum. If they start off as fast as they did in New England, they should be able to play with and keep a lead, shut the crowd up and leave the field with a win. If they allow Manning and the offense to far ahead, they can kiss the game goodbye.

Austin. Hosting Raw. Finally.

On March 15, the one and only Stone Cold Steve Austin will be returning to Raw to raise hell as the guest host of the show for that night. This will be a little less than two weeks before Wrestlemania XXVI.

Finally another great homegrown WWE superstar/celebrity will be hosting Raw. This will definitely get my attention back to the WWE a week before the annual spectacle known as Wreslemania takes place. Great tactic Mcmahon.

Ravens run past Patriots.

Ravens win Ravens win!

The Baltimore Ravens have finally beaten the odds and a top tier quarterback. The final score of the AFC Wildcard game between these two teams was 33-14. That's right, the Ravens played the underdog role and beat the New England Patriots in a blowout, despite what the final score belies. The only offensive production the Ravens saw was from their run game. The Patriots could not stop it so they got run over.

The most impressive thing about the Ravens performance this afternoon was their defense. They easily shutdown the run and eliminated their passing game for 3 quarters. Brady started getting in a rhythm in the fourth quarter but it was too late then. At that point, the Ravens had already gotten too far ahead for their opponent to catch up to them.

I do not know who was starting at quarterback for the Ravens this week but whoever it was did not look like the Joe Flacco that was starting in the beginning of the season. The quarterback who showed up in New England only threw ten passes and completed four of them and had one pass intercepted. If Flacco decides to show up in Indianapolis, he will have to throw the ball. I do not think the Ravens can do what they did this week again next week.

Biggest Play of the Game:: Ray Rice runs for 83 yards on a first and 10 on the first play of the Ravens offense.

Game on! Ravens vs Patriots showdown Part Deux

The Ravens are traveling to the home of the New England Patriots for a rematch of sorts.

In week 4, the Ravens were a different team. The defense was allowing alot of points and Willis Mcgahee was a touchdown machine. He led the league with 6 touchdowns up to that week.

Today we look at the team a little differently. They are not the offensive powerhouse that they were in the beginning of the season but they have reverted back to what they have been able to do almost all year long, run the ball. Last week versus the Oakland Raiders the Ravens ran for 240 yards. Many of these yards are accredited to Willis Mcgahee who has reemerged after having a picnic on the bench during most of the second half of the season.

Ray Rice and Willis Mcgahee may be able to run the ball against this front seven even with an ailing Vince Wilfork in the lineup.

Edelman, Edelman Edelman. This is all I have been hearing about this week. "The Patriots do not have Welker but they have a Welker clone in Edelman". I do not believe that for one minute. The Ravens will not have to focus on this guy the way they would have had to focus on Welker. The defense better keep their eyes on Moss, Watson and Faulk in the passing game. The first two are first and second respectively on their team in receiving touchdowns. It will be a high scoring game if these three cannot be contained.

Just keep this mind: The Patriots just do NOT lose to the Ravens. They are 5-0 versus the purple and black. This means that for the Ravens to win they will have to dominate. The Patriots will be coming into this match-up with the mindset that they are the better team and will be prepared to play as such. It will be up to the Ravens not to give the game away. If they do not turn the ball over and play defense like they have been playing over the last several weeks, they will have a very good chance of winning.

Plus the Ravens ended the year ranked 3rd in total defense after falling to 14th in the league at one point so this defense has tightened up toward the end of this year. I will look to see how well the Ravens contain the passing attack of the Patriots and pass the ball on the Patriots defense.

Monday Night War brought out best of both products

Yesterday, TNA Wrestling broadcasted a special episode of Impact. It started at 8pm and stayed on until 11pm. The main draw was Hulk Hogan's return to wrestling television. Many fans in the small arena proceeded to cheer for Hogan minutes after he entered the ring. The best part of the night was the variety of other returns to TNA many of them coming as a surprise to the fans. Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Jeff Hardy to name a few all came to the "Impact Zone" and helped make the show worth watching for three hours.

However, there was another 'little' wrestling show that came on at 9pm on the USA network. That show was Monday Night Raw. Of course this show comes on every Monday evening at 9pm. There main draw was the return of Bret "the Hitman" Hart. This event was 13 years in the making after an ordeal called the "Montreal Screwjob" took place at Survivor Series(if you do not know what this is look it up). The aftereffect of this occurence led to Bret hart never returning the WWE programming until now. To my dissapointment the only thing I watched for 1 hour and 55 minutes of the show was a normal Raw episode until we saw the Vince Mcmahon close the show with a lowblow to Bret Hart. This came after Bret attempted to bury the hatchetb between the two men. All of this excitment may have been precisly why TNA impact came on the same night.

By the time 9 o'clock came, I was flipping back and forth between Spike TV and USA so that I did not miss a beat on either show. This was not what both companies wanted. You could tell by the magnitude of the TNA event that they were coming to take ratings away from WWE program. Did this happen? We will have to wait and see.

This night was incredible. You could tell by TNA's timing of comercial breaks and matches that they were going head to head with there main competition, the WWE. In the end, I can look back and say that TNA did a better job of enticing the spectator to keep watching after opening the show with a cage match and a Jeff Hardy apperance.

Will we see a direct competition between Raw and Impact again? Only time will tell...

Ravens Win

My mistake...

A couple of weeks ago I said that the season was over and there was no way the Ravens make it to the postseason. I was definitely wrong about that. The Ravens defeated the Raiders today so...

Next weekend, wildcard weekend, the Ravens will be playing the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Ravens fans get ready for a battle. In the playoffs, no one is safe. Ask the Colts of last year. The Ravens do have a chance to win.

The Patriots have been kind of inconsistent this year so I am not sure which team will show up. Plus Wes Welker did not look good after getting hurt today in the game versus the Texans.

Ray Lewis said all they have to do is get in the dance. I agree with this statement completely. I believe the Ravens have the potential to make a run similar to that of Cardinals of last year. The defense is still improving as time goes on and their run game can run on any defense in the league. I am not sure whether the Ravens play on Saturday or Sunday but I will address this huge match-up between the Ravens and the Patriots later on this week.

Ravens at Raiders

Every Ravens fan knows that if the Ravens win on Sunday they are in the playoffs. What many fans do not know is the Ravens are 2-5 on the road this year. In strong contrast to last year when they were 5-3 on the road, the Ravens just have not won outside of the confines of their own stadium that often. This Sunday the Ravens will compete in their final road game of the regular season when they travel to Oakland.

Oakland Raiders they have been largely inconsistent this year. They have suffered embarrassing defeats from decent teams many times this season but they have also defeated some of the best teams in the league. In week 6, we saw the Raiders beat the playoff bound, high scoring Philadelphia Eagles 13-9. They played spoiler and beat their division rivals the Denver Broncos two weeks ago in Denver with some last minute heroics. We also saw them get humiliated by the Cleveland Browns (the same Browns that the Ravens shutout) by losing 23-9 in Cleveland.

This game is an example of the classic trap game. The Ravens know there is some talent on the team of their opponent but they know they have more talent. Because the starting quarterback of the Raiders will be Charlie Frye this week, there is not too much to worry about in terms of the pass defense. The key to victory will be to not give the win away and not look past the team across the field from them regardless of what record they hold.

As long as the Ravens eliminate turning the ball over, beat the man in front of them and limit the penalties they should be ok. For some reason last week in Pittsburgh they failed to complete any of these tasks, hence the loss.

Just keep in mind that the Raiders are the 29th ranked rushing defense in the league. Look for Ray Rice to run over the Raiders in a dominant fashion, maybe not quite like he did versus Detroit but on a little smaller scale.
The Raiders are also averaging 152 passing yards/game. Look for the secondary to have a good day especially Domonique Foxworth.
