AFC North is theirs for the taking. No NOT the Ravens!
Today the Bengals traveled to Pittsburgh and defeated their closest division competition Steelers 18-12 for the second time this year. This means that the Bengals have swept both the Steelers and Ravens this year and are standing firm at the top of the division at 7-2.
Today they beat the Steelers with their defensive muscle although the Steelers earned more offensive yards then they did. Neither quarterback threw for more than 200 passing yards nor did a running back earn more than 50 yards rushing yards. Cedric Benson left the game early with a hip injury so this left the Bengals without their superproductive running game(why didnt this happen last week, I dont know).
The biggest play for the Bengals was a 96 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter. This got the cats up early but the defense won the game by keeping the Steelers' offense from touching the endzone.
At this point the division belongs to the Bengals as long as they play like this. Now the Ravens have to beat the suddenly pass happy Steelers with their suspect pass defense twice in order to finish second place in the AFC North and have a chance for a wildcard spot.
I haven't written this season of yet Ravens fans. The team is just going to have to win every easy game and surprise us with a couple of upsets to get to the playoffs. Priority #1 is win at least 2 of the last three division games. If they win against the Browns on Monday, they will be one small step closer to sliding on their pads in January.
